The operation, conducted in collaboration with various stakeholders, focused on addressing non-compliance in the liquor and second-hand trade industries, as well as enforcing road and immigration laws. Key areas targeted included the R510, Siza, and Popo Molefe informal settlements.

As a result of the initiative:

  • 8 individuals were arrested for selling liquor without a license.
  • 9 individuals were detained for contravening the Immigration Act.
  • 7 suspects were taken into custody for violating the Gambling Act.
  • 4 employers were charged for hiring undocumented workers.

Brigadier Ntoagae expressed satisfaction with the operation’s outcomes, emphasizing the importance of sustained efforts to enhance safety and compliance in Rustenburg. “This is part of our commitment to creating a safer environment for all residents. Similar operations will be conducted weekly to ensure adherence to the law,” she said.

The collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders is expected to bolster Rustenburg’s safety and reduce criminal activities. Residents have been urged to report any illegal activities to their local police stations.

The Safer City operation is part of an ongoing provincial strategy to address crime hotspots and promote public safety.
