Award-winning musician Scotts Maphuma has lashed out at Vogue Lounge after the Rustenburg based lounge cancelled his scheduled performance set for 31 May 2025.

In a strongly worded response on social media, the Bheke le Bheke hitmaker accused the venue of using his name for publicity, following what he claims was a last-minute cancellation. The dispute erupted after Vogue Lounge issued a media statement saying they had called off Maphuma’s booking due to concerns raised by their patrons.

“Our patrons are our top priority,” read the official statement from the club. “After listening closely to their concerns, we have decided to cancel the booking.”
While the lounge did not explicitly state the nature of the complaints, Maphuma—who has been embroiled in public controversy in recent months—suggested the venue was attempting to capitalise on his situation.

“You didn’t book me. You’re just angry because you couldn’t get me when you wanted me,” he said. “Now you wanna market your place by lying about my name. My real fans have forgiven me, we are moving on. And don’t worry—I’ll make it easier for you, I’ll never set foot in your venue. Thank you.”

Maphuma maintains that despite recent backlash, his loyal fan base has stood by him and he is ready to move forward with his career. The artist’s defiant stance has ignited debate on social media, with fans and critics weighing in on both the cancellation and Maphuma’s response.
