SERVICE DELIVERY COMMITMENTS IN FAFUNG THROUGH THUNTSHA LEROLE

The North West Provincial Government is intensifying its efforts to accelerate service delivery and improve community livelihoods through the fifth phase of its Accelerated Service Delivery Programme – Thuntsha Lerole, currently being rolled out in the Madibeng Local Municipality under the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality.

The week-long initiative will culminate on Friday, 24 October 2025, when Premier Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi, joined by Members of the Executive Council (MECs) and the municipal leadership, will lead high-impact service delivery interventions and engage with residents during a community feedback session at Fafung Sports Ground.

The programme underscores government’s commitment to tackling service delivery backlogs, improving accountability, and fostering partnerships with communities. Neighboring villages such as Legonyane, Ga-Rasai, Klipvoorstad, Waterval, Vaalbosloot, Rooiwal, Sephai, and Masebolane are among those expected to benefit from this phase of Thuntsha Lerole.

Among the key highlights is the handover of a 2.2 km paved road in Legonyane village, marking a significant step in improving local infrastructure and mobility. In addition, an aquaculture project in Jericho will be handed over to beneficiaries as part of the provincial government’s drive to support local economic development and promote sustainable livelihoods.

Road infrastructure upgrades will feature road markings in Mmupudung, blading and maintenance of access routes, as well as pothole patching across various sections of the municipality to enhance road safety and accessibility.

Health and social welfare services will also form a major part of the week’s activities. An oversight visit at Hoekfontein Mmakau Clinic will assess healthcare service delivery, while six wheelchairs will be handed to beneficiaries in need. Additionally, 50 dignity packs will be distributed to learners at Rekopantswe Secondary School, promoting hygiene and health awareness among young people.

Efforts to restore water accessibility will see repairs made to non-functional boreholes in nine villages, improving the supply of clean water and reducing community hardships.

Environmental sustainability and food security will be promoted through the One Million Tree Planting Campaign, which will see trees planted at Letlhabile Middle School, Latlha-Patla Centre for the Elderly, and Fafung Clinic. Households and Molelwane Primary School will also receive fruit trees to encourage nutrition and green living.

Community cleanliness initiatives are also on the agenda, with grass-cutting scheduled at the Fafung Traditional Authority Cemetery, promoting dignity and respect for the area.

Members of the media are invited to cover the Thuntsha Lerole activities and the Community Feedback Session as government leaders engage directly with residents and assess progress on service delivery commitments.
