Stop violence at our schools – Mayor Mabale-Huma


The Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Local Municipality has called on learners at various schools around Rustenburg to stop the erupted violence at schools. Sheila Mabale-Huma said the municipality has been deeply disturbed by the recent surge of violent attacks and killings that have occurred among learners in various schools within the municipality. In a statement, the municipality said these acts of violence not only threaten the safety and well-being of the youth but also undermine the sanctity of educational institutions as spaces of learning, growth, and development.
“Education is a cornerstone of our society, and schools should be havens of safety and support,
allowing students to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. The recent acts of violence that have occurred in our schools are not only shocking but deeply concerning. It is essential that we recognize the urgency of addressing this issue and work collaboratively to find effective
solutions. The Executive Mayor, on behalf of the Rustenburg Local Municipality, extends condolences to the families and loved ones who have been affected by these tragic events. No parent should have to experience the pain of losing a child to violence within the school premises. The municipality stands in solidarity with the affected families and pledges to support them during these difficult crimes,” read the statement.
