Tebogo Mokgosinyane and Dino Nako Lightning Dominate N12 Ultra Marathon 10KM Race

The N12 Ultra Marathon 10KM Road Race delivered a day of thrilling competition and emotional triumph as athletes converged to test their endurance and speed on the challenging course.

In a spirited medal awarding ceremony, North West MEC for Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation Galerekwe Virginia Tlhapi, alongside Head of Department Itumeleng Mogorosi and Chief Director of Sports and Recreation George Marindi, honoured the top performers in both the men’s and women’s 10KM races.

Tebogo Mokgosinyane stole the show in the women’s category, finishing in an impressive 00:40:17 to claim first place. She was followed by Nokukhanya Memela in second with a time of 00:42:14, and Mirelle Franck securing third position in 00:44:16.

In the men’s race, Dino Nako Lightning lived up to his name with a lightning-fast finish of 00:30:23, narrowly edging out Peter Cheptot who clocked in at 00:30:24. Alex Moyo completed the podium with a respectable 00:30:56.

The atmosphere at the finish line was electric as runners were celebrated not only for their physical achievement but also for their determination and sportsmanship. The Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation applauded all participants and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting athletics as a tool for youth empowerment and healthy living.

The event marked yet another milestone in growing the province’s sporting calendar and setting a high standard for road racing in South Africa.
