Tensions Brewing Between Rustenburg Municipal Manager and Executive Mayor?

Tensions are reportedly simmering between Rustenburg Local Municipality’s Municipal Manager, Ashamar Khuduge, and Executive Mayor Sheila Mabale-Huma. Although both have publicly denied any discord, sources close to the municipality claim there is significant friction between the two.

Speaking to Naledi News on condition of anonymity, insiders revealed that the two leaders “do not see eye to eye,” despite maintaining a united front during public appearances. The tensions were allegedly downplayed during a recent media briefing, where Khuduge and Mabale-Huma appeared side by side to introduce new Directors and the Chief Financial Officer of the municipality.

When asked about the reported rift, Executive Mayor Mabale-Huma dismissed the claims, saying, “Some people wish to see us fighting, but we are not. We work perfectly well together.”

However, sources within the municipality painted a different picture. “These guys are fighting a serious fight. The Executive Mayor wants to remove the Municipal Manager, while the Municipal Manager is lobbying other politicians to make her job difficult,” one insider said.
