Tragic Passing of Jostina Mothibe -Former Executive Mayor Of Madibeng

The North West Province is in shock following the tragic death of Jostina Mothibe, ANC PEC/PWC member and former Executive Mayor of Madibeng Local Municipality. Mothibe, affectionately known as “Cde MaJos,” lost her life in a fatal accident on the Hartebeespoort Provincial Road (R512) on Thursday night.

The African National Congress (ANC) mourns the untimely loss of a dedicated leader whose sharp intellect, humor, and unwavering commitment to public service left a significant impact on the ANC and the Madibeng community. Known for her fierce advocacy of women’s development and her stance against patriarchy, Mothibe was a revolutionary at heart, committed to equality and social upliftment.

During her tenure as Executive Mayor, Mothibe led with transparency and determination, laying the groundwork for better service delivery, active citizenship, and accountability within the municipality. Her contributions continue to resonate throughout the community, making her sudden departure an immeasurable loss.

The ANC has extended its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and comrades. “We wish them strength and courage during this difficult time as they come to terms with the passing of such a towering figure in our movement,” the ANC stated, describing her as a “great baobab tree” fallen.

Details of her funeral will be shared once final arrangements are made in consultation with her family. Comrade Jostina Mothibe’s legacy of service and empowerment will continue to inspire the North West Province for years to come.
