Update – Stilfontein Illegal Mining – Day 3

A total of 84 alive illegal miners have been retrieved as at 16:00 on Wednesday, 15 January 2025. All 84 have been placed under arrest. 18 have been certified dead.

The total figures on day three of operations by 16:00 on Wednesday afternoon is as follows:

Monday, 13 Jan – Wednesday, 15 Jan 2025

216 are alive illegal miners.
78 are deceased.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng, will provide further updates at 19:30 this evening on site.
