Virginia Tlhapi Appointed as New MEC of Arts, Culture, Sports, and Recreation

Galebekwe Virginia Tlhapi has been appointed as the new Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Arts, Culture, Sports, and Recreation in the North West Province. This appointment follows the resignation of Collen Maine, who previously held the position.

North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi made the announcement earlier today. “I wish to take this opportunity to inform the people of the North West of my decision, in terms of Section 132 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic, to effect changes in the composition of the Provincial Executive Council by appointing Honorable Galebekwe Virginia Tlhapi in the same department,” stated Mokgosi during the announcement.

Premier Mokgosi also extended his gratitude to the outgoing MEC, Hon. Collen Maine, for his service and contribution to the department. “I wish to take this opportunity to thank Honorable Maine for his contribution during his tenure as MEC,” he said.

Tlhapi officially assumes her new responsibilities effective from today, 01 October 2024. Premier Mokgosi congratulated her on the new appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to lead the department in promoting arts, culture, sports, and recreation in the province.
