Water Quality Concerns in Geelhout Park and Lekgalong

The Rustenburg Local Municipality has been inundated with complaints from residents regarding the discolouration of drinking water, specifically a noticeable brown hue. As a precautionary measure, the municipality is advising all residents to boil water before use, whether for drinking, cooking, or any consumption purposes until further notice.

To address the issue promptly, the municipality has engaged with major water suppliers, namely Rand Water and Magalies Water. Water quality samples have been diligently collected and are currently undergoing thorough analyses by certified professionals to determine the cause and extent of the problem.

In an effort to rectify the situation, the municipality is taking preventative measures such as flushing sediments and discoloured water, mainly caused by pipe bursts in the system. These actions are aimed at improving overall water quality and restoring the trust of the affected communities.

The affected areas include Geelhout Park and Lekgalong Township. Residents in these regions are urged to use water sparingly during this period of concern.

The municipality sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused and assures residents that every effort is being made to resolve the issue swiftly. Further updates will be provided as the situation progresses. In the meantime, the cooperation of residents in adhering to the boil water advisory and conservation efforts is greatly appreciated.
