Bitsa Lenkopane, the MEC for the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT), addressed aspiring entrepreneurs as the guest speaker at the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme on Wednesday. The event, organized by the Young African Entrepreneurs Institute (YAEI) in partnership with Absa South Africa, took place at the North-West University (NWU) Potchefstroom Campus.
The Youth Entrepreneurship Programme aims to equip and develop young entrepreneurs within the province, offering essential tools to expand their businesses and strategically position themselves in the marketplace. This initiative is crucial for driving economic growth and job creation in the region.
The Young African Entrepreneurs Institute, a registered youth non-profit organization, focuses on empowering young people by providing practical skills, structured knowledge, and proactive support. The institute’s mission is to facilitate a seamless transition from entrepreneurial ideas to business startups, creating a tangible impact within the community.
The collaboration between YAEI and Absa Bank challenges the perception that banks solely partner with large corporations. Absa’s representative emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting emerging organizations and ensuring young entrepreneurs have access to the funding necessary for business development.
