Orbit College FC Slip to Bottom After Fourth Straight Defeat

Orbit College FC’s rocky start to life in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) continued on Tuesday, September 16, as they fell 2-1 to Chippa United at Buffalo City Stadium. The result pushed the Mswenko Boys to the bottom of the league standings, deepening fears of an early relegation battle.

Despite showing flashes of resilience, Orbit were undone by goals from Xolani Sithole and Justice Figuareido, before Siyabulela Mabele salvaged some pride with a late strike in stoppage time. The loss marked Orbit’s fourth consecutive defeat, leaving them with just one victory since their promotion to the top flight.

Orbit, who stunned many with a historic 1-0 win over Siwelele on August 12, have since struggled to adapt to the intensity and consistency required in the PSL. Their defence has looked vulnerable, while goal-scoring opportunities remain scarce.

Head coach Pogiso Makhoye shuffled his squad in search of answers, bringing on Gomolemo Khoto in the second half to inject fresh energy. However, Chippa’s second goal in the 82nd minute left Orbit chasing shadows until Mabele’s late effort gave a small consolation.

The defeat leaves the Mswenko Boys in unfamiliar and dangerous territory at the foot of the table, with mounting pressure to find form before the season slips further away. For the newcomers, survival in the PSL will demand not just spirit, but points — and fast.
