Newly promoted Betway Premiership side Orbit College FC has strengthened its defensive line-up with the signing of experienced campaigner Ramahlwe “Rama” Mphahlele on a one-year deal.

The 35-year-old joins the North West-based outfit on a free transfer after parting ways with AmaZulu FC at the end of the previous season. His arrival is expected to bring much-needed leadership and stability to the Premiership newcomers, who are in the midst of their debut campaign in South Africa’s top-flight football league

Mphahlele had been training with Orbit College for the past two weeks, where his professionalism, fitness, and defensive composure reportedly impressed the club’s technical team. Those performances earned him a short-term contract as the team looks to solidify its backline.

A seasoned veteran of the South African football scene, Mphahlele’s illustrious career includes successful stints at Moroka Swallows, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs. He has also lifted multiple domestic titles and was part of the Sundowns squad that clinched the CAF Champions League in 2016.

Orbit College, who are still finding their footing in the Betway Premiership, are counting on Mphahlele’s vast experience and leadership to help guide the youthful side through a challenging season and steer them away from the relegation zone.
