DJ KARRI HEADLINES REVAMPED TAUNG CULTURAL CALABASH FESTIVAL

The Taung Cultural Calabash Festival is back and bigger than ever — returning under the vibrant theme “Revived, Refreshed, Reloaded”, a fitting reflection of its renewed energy and celebration of creativity, culture, and artistic excellence in the North West Province. The festival will take place from 30 October to 1 November 2025 at the Mmabana Taung Centre, promising an unforgettable cultural experience for patrons across the province.

This year’s revamped programme brings a fresh and dynamic lineup of events designed to inspire, entertain, and empower the local creative community.

The festivities will kick off with Masterclasses for fashion designers, led by internationally acclaimed fashion icon David Tlale. The session will offer aspiring and emerging designers a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of South Africa’s most celebrated names in fashion. Following the masterclass, a Fashion Show will showcase the talent and creativity of North West’s finest designers, shining a spotlight on the province’s growing fashion industry.

Friday will bring a dose of laughter and light-hearted fun with a Comedy Night, featuring a star-studded lineup that includes Chris Mampane, Tall As Mo, Mashabela, and other top comedians. The evening promises to be filled with humour that resonates with local audiences, celebrating storytelling through laughter.

The festival will reach its peak on Saturday with the Music Festival, headlined by none other than DJ Karri, alongside crowd favourites Kharishma, Fifi Cooper, Paige, and Maglera Doe Boy. The lineup represents a fusion of genres — from lekompo and hip hop to soulful local rhythms — showcasing the diversity and evolution of South African music.

Festival organisers have announced that Early Bird Tickets are now available from just R100, encouraging music and culture lovers to secure their spots early for what is expected to be one of the North West’s most vibrant cultural showcases of the year.

The 2025 Taung Cultural Calabash Festival reaffirms its commitment to revitalising the Taung creative scene, empowering local artists, and cementing the North West Province’s reputation as a thriving hub for arts, culture, and entertainment.
