Laughter will take centre stage at this year’s Taung Cultural Calabash Festival, with Rustenburg-based comedian Blaq Gzus Jones among the headline acts for the Comedy Night set for 31 October 2025 at the Mmabana Centre in Taung.

Known for his razor-sharp humour and charismatic stage presence, Blaq Gzus Jones has become a household name in the North West comedy scene. He is the co-host of 326 Avenue on You FM and the driving force behind the popular Platinum Comedy Show, one of the province’s most successful live comedy platforms. His performance in Taung promises to bring the same energy and wit that have made him a fan favourite across the province.

The Comedy Show, forming part of the three-day 2025 Taung Cultural Calabash Festival, will feature a stellar line-up including Chris Mapane, Mashabela Galane, Tol Ass Mo, and Madeza, alongside North West talents Papi Mochangane and Hassie. Tickets are available at R150 (early bird) and R200 at the gate through Computicket, Shoprite, Checkers, and Usave.

Hosted by the Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sport Foundation (MACSF) in partnership with the North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, the festival celebrates creativity, heritage, and artistic excellence under the theme “Revived, Refreshed, and Reloaded for a New Generation.”

The festival will open on 30 October 2025 with a Kgotla Event, followed by a Fashion Show, Gala Dinner, Art Exhibition, and a Lifestyle Market featuring local entrepreneurs and food vendors. The second day, 31 October, will see a full Theatre Programme, the much-anticipated Comedy Night, and ongoing exhibitions. The festival will conclude on 1 November 2025 with a Music Festival showcasing local and national artists.

According to MACSF, the Taung Cultural Calabash is more than an entertainment event—it’s a platform to showcase local talent, empower small businesses, and boost the creative economy of the North West Province.
“The Cultural Calabash is back, revived, refreshed, and reloaded for a new generation. This is about our pride, our dignity, and our voice,” the Foundation said in a statement.
From storytelling to theatre, fashion to food, and now comedy, the 2025 Taung Cultural Calabash promises an unforgettable celebration of art, laughter, and heritage in the heart of the province
