The Botho Community Movement (BCM) has officially ceased to exist as an independent political party, with its only seat in the Rustenburg Local Municipality now falling under ActionSA. The announcement was made today during an event in Rustenburg where ActionSA President, Herman Mashaba, welcomed BCM members to what he termed the “green umbrella”.
Mashaba clarified that the merger was not intended to destroy smaller parties but to build a stronger collective force capable of unseating the ruling party.
“Communities in the North West are suffering. If all small parties with few seats in councils come together under one strong party, we will be able to change this country,” said Mashaba.
During the event, former BCM President Ofentse Kombe was announced as the new General Secretary of ActionSA in the North West. Kombe described the merger as a strategic move to amplify their fight against corruption and strengthen service delivery in local municipalities.
“This move will strengthen our fight against corruption because our voices will now be even louder,” he said.
The integration of BCM into ActionSA is seen as part of a broader effort by the party to consolidate opposition forces ahead of upcoming local government realignments.
